Surfing confirmed in the First South American Beach Games

South American Beach Games
Montevideo – Punta del Este
October 28, 2008

The first meeting for the organization of the South American Beach Games took place in Montevideo and Punta del Este this past weekend. The Games will be carried out from February 27 to March 8 at Montevideo and Punta del Este beaches in Uruguay.

Australia wins third consecutive ISA World Surfing Games


Hobgood, Fitzgibbons, Lima, Sagardia and Moir are the new ISA World Champions

With a big display of friendship and Olympic spirit, the 22nd edition of the World Surfing Games was carried out. The best 233 surfers from 29 different countries gathered together from October 11-19 in Costa de Caparica’s waves, Portugal.

The International Surfing Association will give 40 scholarships in 2009

The International Surfing Association (ISA), the World Governing Body for Surfing recognized by the International Olympic Committee, is proud to announce that it is extending the 2009 Individual Scholarship Program to 40 recipients, an increase of 20 grants from 2008. The ISA is accepting applications until December 12, 2008.

2008 ISA Scholarship recipient, Ametza Nicholls, proved this year to be a great Surfing Ambassador for her country. At 15, she placed third in the Open Women division of the Barbados Surfing Association National Tour, also placing third in the Under 18 Women division.

Holly Donnelly is 17 years old and she’s a local of the British Surf City of Newquay. She’s another great ISA Ambassador; started surfing when she was 8 and when she was 12 wrote her name in the History books by winning the Under 18 National Championship.

CJ gets sweet revenge

After winning the 9th stop of the ASP World Tour in Mundaka, Spain, instead of taking a rest before going to Brazil, in what can be considered a great patriotic act, CJ Hobgood decided to stay in Europe and travel to Costa de Caparica, Portugal, from October 11 until the 19 to defend the USA flag in the 22nd edition of the ISA World Surfing Games.
